Man Plants Tribute Of Six Thousand Trees When Wife Passes – 15 Years On, Pictures Show His Real Intentions.
“Find out how one man’s true love tribute hid a secret for almost 20 years”
Winston Howe and Janet were made for each other.
The moment they met, the couple fell instantly into a deep love which grew and flourished.
The pair wed over fifty years ago in 1962, never for a moment did they stop loving one another.
Winston and Janet’s devotion was as deep as can be; others around them often asked for advice on how they lasted so happily, for so long.
Sadly, it came to an end a few years after their 30thanniversary, when Janet was taken by a heart attack.
When they first tied the knot, the couple relocated to a beautiful English farmhouse set amongst rolling fields.
Janet and Winston soon had a son, and as time passed, the pair developed a connection which few people experience.
Their son continued growing healthy and strong, Winston and Janet’s farm thrived, and their partnership was unshakeable. Life for the family was an idyllic one, set against the gorgeous backdrop of their Gloucestershire home of thirty years.
Yet, life changes.
Thirty-three years into their marriage, Janet had an unanticipated heart attack and died, at the tender age of fifty.
Her husband was heartbroken and thought his whole life would fall apart. His one and only had passed away.
In a beautiful act of tribute to Janet, he planted six thousand trees in a nearby Gloucestershire field beside their farmhouse.
He hoped to make a peaceful, sacred spot in which he and their son might pay find solace on hard days. So, he started to plant many, many oak trees.
Here’s why Winston’s homage is truly unique. Inside his forest for Janet, he hid a meadow, shaped like a heart.
Winston’s amazing tribute of devotion remained a secret for almost two decades. He’d accomplished what he set out to do, but his real purpose for the work stayed hidden in clear view between the oaks.
Seven years ago, his motive finally came to light as a hot air-balloonist called Andy Collet caught a glimpse of the field from above.
Winston’s amazing tribute remained only his over so many years, sources share, spotted only by chance as Andy came to drift above.
“You can just imagine the love story. I have my own balloon and am quite a regular flyer, but this was the most amazing sight I have ever seen from the sky,” Collet said to the Daily Mail.
The point of the heart signals straight to the village where Janet lived as a child.
Not stopping there, Winston grew hedgerows around the heart, so that each Spring, yellow daffodils would light up the middle.
“I thought it was a great idea — it was a flash of inspiration — and I planted several thousand oak trees. Once it was completed we put a seat in the field, overlooking the hill near where she used to live,” Winston told the Daily Mail.
He shared that at times, he heads to the tribute meadow and reflects on what amazing times the pair spent together.
“It is a lovely and lasting tribute to her which will be here for years,” Winston shared.
While Janet remains peacefully at rest, Winston can feel happy that she’d adore the gorgeous meadow he created especially in her memory.
When those special to us pass, especially our very nearest, it’s painful. Yet, Winston’s tale demonstrates that from every sadness, happiness can grow.
