A Wisconsin mother is speaking out to warn others against suffering the same fate as her 23-year-old daughter Neala Frye. In Feb 2013 she went missing after hanging out with her friends at a local college bar one night.
However when Neala failed to show up for work the next morning, a search to locate her began.
Surveillance footage captured the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse showed the student leave the bar and step outside in the brutally cold winter weather.
Police located Neala’s body in a ditch, frozen to the ground after a full day of searching. She passed away due to hypothermia “exposure to environmental cold.”
Her grieving mother, Roxanne Weeden, is determined to prevent something like this from happening to others.
It’s almost six years since Roxanne lost her daughter. Had she been wearing a proper jacket on the brutally cold night things might have been different today.
Although it’s not uncommon for college students to purposely wear the wrong outerwear when going out to socialize, Roxanne wants to create more awareness of the risks.
