You cannot reverse the clock to look young or to throw the wrinkles away. If affordable, you can go for surgeries and other cosmetic treatments, but what I want to put away here is why to get so artificial when you can control your ageing process by just taking care of certain things in your routine? No expensive surgeries, no cosmetic treatments, and no artificial looks!
Here are certain tips that can help you look younger than you really are but only when you are extremely careful.
Let’s have a look.
Bid Farewell to Heat Styling
Hair is the natural crown of women, they say. But what if they are dull, dry and rough? That would be an ugly crown, I suppose.
“I’m seeing lots of damage and breakage from women using multiple heat styling tools,” comments Francesca J. Fusco, MD, assistant clinical professor of the dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai.
Young hair glows and shines irrespective of their styling but when you use the curling iron, flat iron and hair dryer, it makes your hair strands flat, dull and rough giving you bushy appearance after some years. These heat styling techniques add years to your general appearance and it needs to stop.
How to Avoid: Dr Fusco suggests taking two days a week off from any heat styling and let your hair be taking a shower, let your hair dry with air or even skipping washing them and using dry shampoo. Two days a week would be perfect for the health and young look of your hair.
Keep Your Hands Lotion-ed
Have you got my weird term?
The face is not what reveals our age with the first look, these are hands that play the game and let people know how many springs you have seen here. The skin at the back of your hands is thin and delicate that exposes it to immediate ageing as compared to the other parts of the body. And the worst happens when you let your hands’ skin dry and they look way older than they really are. For this very thing, Dr Fusco suggests using appropriate and suitable lotion on your hands, that doesn’t only keep them moist but also give them fresh and youthful look.
“It will greatly reduce sun damage, which appears as brown spots and wrinkles.”
How to avoid: Try using lotion with sunscreen and if possible use an SPF 30 moisturizer for your hands.
Get your Nails Painted
Again as the researchers at American Society of Plastic Surgeons said it’s the hands that reveal your real age, not the face, you get to be more careful about your hands. Besides keeping your hands moisturized, you can wear nail polish to trick others’ interpretations of your age. According to experts, your jewellery and nail paint provide the robust distraction from imperfections and cast a positive and young image of your personality.
How to do it best: Using shades of red and purple serves this purpose of looking young really well.
Avoid teeth Staining Foods
Emanuel Layliev, a renowned dentist of the New York Center for Cosmetic Dentistry states white teeth are indicators of youthfulness and good health. He mentions soy sauce, barbecue sauce and other hot, dark and sticky as the worst sources of dental stains along with coffee, red wine, and cola.
How to avoid: You can replace barbeque or soy sauce in your kitchen with fresh herbs or fruity salsa that doesn’t only bring you a good taste but various health benefits as well. And stop taking soda entirely. It is better for your teeth and for your overall well-being.
Exercise Daily

jogging
Exercise is what keeps you fresh, energetic, strong and functional during the day and improves your internal functions as well. It’s good for skin, for stomach, for muscles and for every single organ of the body.
“Exercise improves healthy circulation, which allows the skin to look its best,” states Dr Fusco.
A research at the McMaster University also supports the idea that exercise might inhibit or slows ageing. Besides all these facts, when you’re in shape and have better inside feeling, you look automatically young and pretty.
What to do: Sacrifice at least 30 minutes a day to exercise and live your life to the fullest.
Take High protein foods
To make your hair look fresh and young, you need to understand what the basic need. Hair is composed of special proteins and if you raise your protein intake, that might help you get your desired young look.
“When you want hair looks healthy, you’ve got to start at the basics, and that means eating an adequate amount of protein to maintain the normal hair production,” states Kevin Pinski, the dermatologist at Pinski Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery.
What to do: Women are suggested to eat at least 46g proteins a day. You can eat meat, salmon, vegetables and dairy products to achieve the desired level of protein intake.
Deal your Wet hair gently
If you have left the heat styling and taking enough protein and still have complaints about dry and dull hair, you might need to reconsider what to do first after taking a shower.
What to do: Don’t brush your wet hair as after bath, the hair strands are the week and are more vulnerable to breaks than ever and that leads you to have rough and dull hair. If you’re so eager to brush, use a wide-toothed comb having soft and blunt tips.
Don’t Stress out and Have Good Sleep
Stress is what takes your freshness and youthfulness away with a single blow. It activates the inflammatory processes in the skin and leads you to problems like acne, psoriasis, and eczema, according to the Journal Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery. And same is the deprived sleep. It makes your eyes look older, your skin dull and promotes dark circles and bags around your eyes.
What to do: Keep your social circle activated, meet your friends, take as less stress as you can and have fine 7-8 hours’ sleep per day.
These are tips that require no money and investment but only some time and effort in general. If you really want to look young and fresh, consider these natural and home-based remedies before spending your $$$ on surgeries.
