Most of us have been locked out of our vehicles at some point. And if you haven’t then there is a good chance that you may be faced with this scary situation in the future. To ease some of your panic if you do ever get locked out of your car, all you have to do is watch this video and follow some simple rules. Oh, and it helps to have shoelaces or string on you at all times.
First of all, you will need a roll of string. If you don’t have that handy, a thin shoelace should do the trick. Watch the video below to learn how to make an appropriate knot that will allow you to gain entry into your vehicle. You may want to practice this a few times so you have it perfected in the event that a lockout really does occur.
The end of your fancy knot should have a small loop that is about the width of your index finger.
Once you have your string tied correctly, you are going to shimmy it in through the corner of the driver’s side window. This will be the right side of the window. There is usually a point at the corner, which will allow you to maneuver the string inside the door.
