9 Incredible And Non-Toxic Hacks That Can Help You Keep Home Sparkling Clean And Save Time

Cleaning your home, especially during this season, can be a daunting task as one prepares for the onslaught of family and friends that will inevitably stop by for some holiday cheer. Here are a few cleaning hacks that will make your washing, scrubbing, and dusting tasks and make your life a little bit easier.

1. Washing Machine

Instead of running out to buy expensive products to clean your washing machine, just use vinegar. Pour it inside where you usually place the washing powder and start a long cycle.

When washing clothes, you can use two-thirds vinegar and one-third washing powder to make your clothes come out sparkling clean. For those of you with pets, adding white vinegar to your cycles can help with that pesky fur that you can get rid of.

2. Bathtubs

Heat up vinegar in the microwave until it’s warm, not hot, before mixing it with a soapy cleaning solution in a spray bottle. The measurements should be 1:1. Stir the mixture together, don’t shake. Spray it in your bathtub/shower and let it sit for 30 minutes before wiping it away with a sponge.

3. Cleaning Window Tracks

For those hard-to-reach corner areas, sprinkle on some baking soda. Add vinegar and wait for it to start bubbling. Leave it for 10-15 as the mixture works its magic and then wipe away the gunk with paper towels.

4. Kid’s Toys

Gather up all the washable toys and collect them in a net washbag. Place the bag in the washing machine and you’ve cut your cleaning time.

5. Removing Invincible Stains

Kids love to express themselves artistically, especially on walls and hardwood floors with crayons and markers. To get rid of permanent markers on floors, walls, or tables, squeeze toothpaste onto a wet cloth and rub away the stain.

You can also use hairspray or aerosol deodorant. If you don’t have any of those, place soda on a sponge, rub the stain, and wipe away with water.

6. Nail Polish Stains

Spilled nail polish can be a hassle to get out, but if you just apply nail polish remover to the stain and let it sit for a minute before rubbing it away, it should come up with ease.

If the nail polish has already dried, use hairspray and then wipe away with warm soap and water. If it has gotten onto carpet, use stain remover and then wipe with a damp cloth.

7. Cleaning The Microwave

If you do this your microwave can be clean in just five minutes. Cut a lemon in half, place it in a cup, and add cinnamon. Put the cup in the microwave and set it for 5-10 minutes using the lowest power setting. The lemon will help with cleaning while the cinnamon will get rid of smelly doors.

8. Sparkling Kitchen

Cleaning the kitchen can take hours, but you can shorten that time with a simple trick. Mix baking soda and vegetable oil until it becomes a thick paste. Apply the mixture to hardened fat/grease and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Wipe it away using a cloth and soap solution.

9. Dusting

Remove dusting from your life — not entirely — by applying a few drops of oil to a paper towel and wiping it away from a dusty area. Wipe again with a clean paper towel. There will be a thin layer of the oil left on the surface which keeps future dust from accumulating so quickly and it makes your furniture shine.

Which of these hacks will you try in your home?
